U.S. Green Building Council. LEED Silver

Greener, cleaner (urban) living

The Uptown is proud to be Oakland's first LEED certified residential building. Using green building practices promoted by the U.S. Green Building Council, The Uptown has transformed an area formerly covered by parking lots, underutilized buildings and an old gas station into a vibrant, mixed-use community that has achieved LEED Silver certification.

Recycled and Sustainable Materials

Recycled and Sustainable Materials

The building materials used in The Uptown have a minimum of 10% recycled content, including courtyard decking made of recycled tires.

Kitchen and bathroom cabinets for all units were chosen for high recycled material content.

At least 90% of the construction waste generated was recycled instead of taken to a landfill, which reduces demand for natural resources.

33% of all construction materials were manufactured regionally (within 500 miles).
