The Paramount Theatre, Oakland

The Paramount

The historic Paramount Theatre, located just down the street from The Uptown, opened on December 16, 1931 as Oakland's grandest Art Deco movie palace. The Oakland East Bay Symphony purchased the theatre in October 1972 and began a comprehensive renovation program. The Paramount has since been declared a National, State of California and City of Oakland landmark. The theatre now hosts a regular season of symphony concerts, ballets, musical and stage shows, and a revival film program.
